Where Deaf Children Talk  Where Deaf Children Talk

The Moog Center - Columbia focuses on teaching chidren with hearing loss to listen and talk.  We use the unique curriculum created by the Moog Center for Deaf Education in St. Louis.  Our highly individualized instruction is tailored to each child's present level of achievement and learning style.  Our teachers know how to gear instruction to be at just the right level for maximum challenge and maximum success.  This is not only highly motivating for our children but results in their having high self esteem.

Our children learn how to talk and understand when others talk to them. They also participate in preschool programming similar to that of hearing children.  Our goal is for our children to learn to talk, and to talk well enough that talking is their primary means of communicating.  We anticipate that most of our children will mainstream into schools with their hearing age peers by kindergarten or first grade.
